What do I do about MRSA?

Stop complaining that it is someone else's fault. In the end it is all of our faults and there is no escape from personal responsibility.

Stop trying to sue someone, it only increases the costs for everyone and increases the bank balances of the legal profession.

Start taking action. Here is a really simple action plan. So simple a child can learn and understand it. So important that everyone on the planet should know this.

Scared of MRSA?
Just keep washing MRSA away
Is anyone touching you
Tell them to wash MRSA away

Let me explain

In your home (you may live in a family unit or it may be a college dorm or shared house) you should be scared of MRSA. MRSA can disfigure, cause loss of limbs and possibly death. It must also be recognized that the fear of MRSA is driving us not just to take action today but keep taking action for the rest of our lives. These actions must become a habit that we learn and pass on to all those around us.

Just keep washing it away. Wash your hands each and every time you use the bathroom. Not just before meals, every single time. If you perspire then shower. It may just be a hot day in class or at the office when you get home shower. It may be a sports game or a gym workout then take a shower. Do not share towels, razor or anything else. Your clothes need regular washing and must not be left on the floor in a heap for weeks. Any wounds must be kept clean and covered and away from someone else.

Is anyone touching you. Not just a quick kiss for the prettiest girl you know, but anywhere in contact, or not so contact sports, and also in hospital. Your sports team should be the cleanest, best turned out team in your league but it has to be the cleanest from MRSA as you will ALL share the same bacteria. Everyone who is near enough to touch your skin must be clean or you will share the bacteria and become colonized. I wonder if the shirts worn to play basketball should be redesigned to cover the armpits of the players and reduce MRSA availability?

Get them to wash the MRSA away. Everyone around you should be clean. If you get a visitor to you in hospital then check that they have used the hand sanitizers on the ward to clean their hands. If a nurse or doctor is there to check you out or to mark the area of your operation then get them to use your clean pen to mark out the operation and wash their hands.
